A shocking report by NASA revealed that astronauts have an unexpected health-related issue.
It seems that their blood flow can stop and even reverse in the upper bodies of astronauts, as reported by the online publication Futurism.
This latest study has the potential of having massive implications about extended trips through deep space, says the website mentioned above.
Health-related issues in astronauts who stayed longer in space
Experts are working for a while now in order to find out more detai8ls regarding the precise effects of spending long periods in microgravity.
This study reportedly looked at periodic ultrasound tests of 11 healthy astronauts who staffed the International Space Station.
The online publication mentioned above reveals a pretty alarming result: they note that it looks like astronauts’ bl.ood flow has either stagnated or reversed in the left internal jugular vein.
This is a massive blood vessel which is located on the side of our necks. This result has been found in the case of seven astronauts.
It’s also been revealed that the tests found a clot and a partial clot as well in two of the crew members after they came back to Earth.
We suggest that you head over to official notes in order to learn more – A paper of the study was published in the journal JAMA Network Open.
NASA in the news
In other NASA-related news, we recently revealed that experts have just detected something unexpected in space.
The space agency has discovered a huge thermonuclear explosion that came from outer space.
This seems to be a distant pulsar, according to the space agency.
Just in case you don’t know, this is “the stellar remains of a star that blew up in a supernova but was too small to form a black hole,” according to the explanation coming from ScienceAlert.
