Covid-19 Tsunami: Africa Is Terrified By The Novel Coronavirus

The whole world has been hit by this invisible enemy against we’re all fighting these days: the coronavirus pandemic.

Almost all the countries in the world have been hit, and even if a lot of people were suggesting that if Africa gets hit, countries over there will not experience such dramatic situations because the virus hates higher temperatures, it seems that this is not the case.

The continent seems to be terrified after the Covid-19 reached them as well, according to the latest news.

On the other hand, these countries are not getting too much attention these days.

Africa could be hit by a Covid-19 tsunami 

“Think of a slum in Latin America or in Central America or the edge of some of these megacities – how can people isolate themselves [with] 10 or 12 people living in a single room?,” according to Claire Beck, who is Director of World Vision International’s Humanitarian Health and Water, Sanitation and Hygiene Unit.

She also said, as cited by Eternity.News, that “Mali, when it had no reported cases of coronavirus, closed its schools and sports stadia.”

“You can’t isolate one or two sick people, and that means the whole household will get it. How do you then isolate the community around them? How do you prevent the spread?” she continued.

She also said that people in Africa have all kinds of underlying conditions and there is a lot of malnutrition as well, and people who are smoking which is terrible in case of infection.

Hypertension, poor nutritional status, tuberculosis and all kinds of terrible conditions can be found there.
