Newton’s Theory Gets Revised

Some news has just rocked the scientific community to its core. Another law has been proposed, succeeding the universal gravitation theory belonging to Sir Isaac Newton. This new law has also been proposed by a UK-based scientist.

Newton’s Law

Back in 1687, Sir Isaac Newton made a brilliant calculation. He realized that ocean tides are because of the gravitational attraction of the Sun and the Moon to the oceans of our home planet. In his law of universal gravitation, Newton proposed that gravitational attraction between two bodies is inversely proportional to the distance between the bodies, squared, and directly proportional to their masses. The conclusion that lies in this is that the greater the mass of the objects and the smaller the distance is between the objects, the greater the gravitational attraction between the two. This gravitational force is responsible for tidal forces, among other natural phenomena.

The New Contender

A Royal Aircraft Establishment scientist named Alan Lowey, however, recently stated that the theory is highly outdated and suggests that we go for a fundamental shift of paradigm. In a recent interview with Express.co.uk, Lowey expressed that he has proposed an alternative to the idea of the theory of the ocean tides, proposed by Newton.

What Is Wrong with Physics Nowadays?

Lowey explained that Newton formed his theory of gravitational forces about 300 years ago. Newton is believed to have had some reservations about the ocean tides and how that, in practice, worked with the mathematical part of the theory. Pierre-Simon Laplace, a French mathematician, helped Newton out by assisting him with the mathematical part of the theory.

Of course, Newton’s theory has not been tested properly and is in need for some revision. When you think about it, we have an extremely large missing mass problem in physics, which might have something to do with Newton’s theory of gravitational force as well.
